These high strength alloy NON-LOCKING Axle Nuts pull the rear wheel bearing tight on Independent Rear Suspension drivelines, and are made specifically for a direct replacement for Cobra, Daytona Coupe, GT40's as well the Superformance Mk-3 Cobra, and of course the IRS Mustangs.
Single self locking axle nuts have been known to loosen, especially on the drivers side. This eventually leads to wheel bearing failure, where the common recommendation is to simply add another to 'double nut' over the top of the first one for added safety and security. However, the common self locking pinch thread also tends to destroy the threads on the spindle, eventually requiring a new spindle to be replaced in addition to the nuts only being a one time usage and you need to buy new ones each time you remove them.
OUR SOLUTION! This special and unique NON-LOCKING version is unlike the common "self locking" nuts, and requires two per side to mechanically lock the first nut into place. The significant advantage of this is the nuts can be taken on and off and reused many times, easy to install and remove and will not damage or wear the axle threads like the standard "pinch-thread" design can. And unlike other axle nuts, these thread on easily with just your fingers which allows for increased and more accurate torque during installation without the resistance of the "pinch thread" getting in the way.
