So, how Quick IS a Superformance? Take some of the greatest road cars ever built, and put them all together for a side by side comparison. Which would win? The ability to accelerate a given mass, a given distance in the shortest period of time is a simple mathematical calculation expressed in Pounds per Horsepower, more commonly called the "Power to Weight Ratio." This method of comparison is a longstanding formula to compare a vehicle's potential, at least on paper. Keep in mind, this does not necessarily reflect quarter mile times, nor does it estimate top speeds, but simply the 'seat of the pants' acceleration experience. The chart below graphically shows how the Mark-III stands up to some of the greatest cars ever built… and it's obvious, that the Mark-III can certainly be considered one of them...

If you "still" can't quite comprehend how quick a Well Built Mark-III can be,  Consider this…

A Big Block Powered Mark-III's power to weight ratio can easily exceed 3.4 pounds per horsepower. That would be the same as taking a stock 460 Ford Big Block, bolting it down to a child's coaster wagon, sitting up on the engine with your legs wrapped around the valve covers, grabbing onto the carb, and cracking the throttle WIDE OPEN! (212 hp weighing in at 654 lbs, plus the wagon).
